Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Major Civil Engineering Project\n\nLocation: Portsmouth, Hampshire\n\nSalary: £32,000 - £37,000 DOE + Package\n\nAn excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a leading civil engineering contractor on a major infrastructure project.\n\nThis role offers the chance to work alongside an experienced commercial team on a high-profile scheme, gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle while developing your commercial and contractual knowledge within a supportive environment.\n\nThe Role\n\nReporting to a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will assist with the commercial management of a large civil engineering project delivered under the NEC form of contract.\n\nKey responsibilities:\n\n * Assisting with subcontractor procurement and management\n\n * Preparing and reviewing payment applications and valuations\n\n * Supporting cost reporting and forecasting activities\n\n * Assisting with change management and compensation events under NEC contracts\n\n * Monitoring project costs and identifying commercial risks and opportunities\n\n * Supporting the preparation of monthly commercial reports\n\n * Liaising with site teams, suppliers and subcontractors\n\n * Maintaining accurate records and commercial documentation\n\nRequirements\n\n * Degree or HNC/HND qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline\n\n * Previous experience within civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, highways, rail or water sectors\n\n * Understanding of NEC contracts and commercial processes\n\n * Strong numerical and analytical skills\n\n * Good communication and stakeholder management abilities\n\n * Proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard commercial reporting systems\n\n * Ambitious, proactive and keen to develop a long-term career within commercial management\n\nWhat's on Offer\n\n * Opportunity to work on a major infrastructure project\n\n * Clear progression pathway to Quantity Surveyor level and beyond\n\n * Exposure to NEC contracts and complex civil engineering works\n\n * Competitive salary and benefits package\n\n * Long-term project pipeline and job security\n\n * Supportive and experienced commercial team\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to build their career with a reputable contractor delivering some of the UK's most significant civil engineering and infrastructure projects
